The wonders of Egypt while cruising and the incomparable experiences
When Lord Horatio Kitchener was in charge of the Egyptian army in the 1890s, Aswan Botanical Gardens were built on Kitchener's Island, which is to the west of Elephantine Island. Kitchener transformed the entire island into the magnificent Aswan Botanical Gardens by importing plants from the Far East, India, and other regions of Africa in order to indulge his enthusiasm for gorgeous palms and plants.
The gardens, which span 6.8 hectares, are home to hundreds of different species of plants and birds. Even though some of its past splendour may have been lost, the majestic trees are still a breathtaking sight, especially just before sunset when the light is softer and the aroma of sandalwood fills the air. Avoid going there on Fridays when stereo-wielding extended families with picnics flood the area. Instead, show up in the late afternoon when few people are around.
At least 75 tombs belonging to queens of the 19th and 20th dynasties, as well as other members of the royal families, including princesses and the Ramesside princes, may be found in the Valley of the Queens, which is located at the southernmost point of the Theban mountainside. The entrances to four of the graves are open. The public was first reintroduced to the most well-known of these, the tomb of Nefertari, in late 2016. The graves of Titi, Khaemwaset, and Amunherkhepshef are the other tombs.
The finest granite used to create statues and adorn temples, pyramids, and obelisks in ancient Egypt came from Unfinished Obelisk, Aswan. Although the overall construction process is still unclear, the massive unfinished obelisk in the Northern Quarries has revealed significant light on how these monuments were made. With the exception of the inscriptions, three of the shaft's roughly 42m-long sides were finished. The finished obelisk would have weighed 1168 tonnes, making it the biggest piece of stone ever fashioned by the Egyptians.
At a late stage in the process, however, a flaw appeared, so it lies where the disappointed stonemasons abandoned it, still partly attached to the parent rock.
