Egypt Small Group Tours

I present to you my ultimate guide to help you organize your own solo and an independent trip to Egypt. It is full of advice that I myself would have liked to have had before leaving, and which will allow you to appreciate this great adventure even more, so enjoy with Plan Egypt Tours.

Traveling to Egypt has always been a dream for tourists. Already in antiquity, this country has two of the seven wonders of the world. There is the lighthouse of Alexandria as well as the pyramids of Giza, which is the only ancient wonder still standing today.

For many people, Egypt is a dream, but it is also a little scary. Let's say that the media does not always paint a very attractive portrait of Egypt, and that's a shame.

This is why the majority of tourists discover the country by taking an organized Egypt Small Group tour, for one or two weeks. This is the easy option, especially if you have little time. You just have to follow the guide of Plan Egypt Tours, and you will see all the main attractions of Egypt.

The Coptic Quarter has been Cairo's Christian quarter for nearly 2,000 years. Part of this area is "hidden" and you have to enter through a small door to access it. There are then labyrinthine alleys and buildings whose architecture recalls an oriental style close to the Tales of the Thousand and One Night. It is a charming place where there are many religious sites in a small area. You can thus see different churches (Saint Serge, Sainte-Marie…), a Christian cemetery, and even a synagogue (Ben Ezra). Around this "hidden" enclosure, we invite you to visit the famous Hanging Church (part of which is built on the old Roman fort of Babylon) and a little further the very authentic Amr Ibn al-As Mosque.

Cairo's most authentic neighborhood is in the northeast of the city. This is the old Islamic Cairo where there are many mosques, alleys, and monuments. The animation is constant day and night. On-site, we invite you to stroll through the immense souk Khân al-Khalili, the largest in the city. It's a nice place to walk around but expects a large crowd and near-constant solicitation from vendors. You can also admire the Bab Zuweila Gate and the Al-Azhar Mosque. If you wish, you can also reach the old Mamluk quarters to see the mosques of Al-Fira'i and Sultan Hassan.

If you are lucky enough to take a Nile cruise between Aswan and Luxor, this activity is probably essential (unless you are looking for what to do in Cairo in the evening). If not, we invite you to take advantage of your stay in Egypt to navigate the Nile at least once. Beautiful felucca (traditional sailing boat) or kayak rides are offered during the day or at sunset. In the evening, it is possible to book a dinner cruise including various entertainment during the meal (Arabic music, whirling dervishes, belly dancing, etc.). These 1h or 2h cruises allow you to get beautiful views of the city and its monuments

Cairo is a noisy and constantly bustling city. A stay there can be quite exhausting and it is sometimes good to take a break for a few moments. This is the reason why we advise you to go for a walk to Al Azhar Park if you spend several days there. A true haven of peace, this beautiful green space offers a superb view of the old city of Cairo. The park is a paid and secure area, open day and night (usually until 10 p.m.). You can find something to eat and pretty pools on site. Take our word for it, strolling through this relaxing place will do you the greatest good!

If you are looking for what to do in Egypt Small Group Tours apart from cultural visits, here is an activity that might interest you! Beautiful quad rides are offered on the Giza Plateau. In order not to disturb other visitors, these tours do not take place in the archaeological area at the foot of the pyramids, but in the immense desert that surrounds the monuments. You can therefore enjoy a beautiful wild space while enjoying a magnificent view of all the pyramids. It is therefore not a visit that replaces the archaeological site of Giza, but a complementary activity that allows you to combine fun and pleasure!

If you have the opportunity, we advise you to visit the pretty city of Alexandria which is located about a 2h 30 drive north of Cairo. Due to its out-of-the-way position in relation to the other must-see sites located in the south of the country (Luxor, Aswan, Abu Simbel…), many travelers miss this visit. However, it is a very beautiful city with a rich history. Although the famous Lighthouse (which was part of the 7 wonders of the world) is no longer visible today, several sites are very interesting: Roman Theater, Catacombs, Library, etc. book Alexandria day trip round trip from Cairo. This makes it easy to discover the main sites of Alexandria without having to worry about all the logistics. This is the option we have chosen and we recommend it!
